Share

The ongoing tension between the US and Iran has escalated further as the US imposes new sanctions on the country. The move aims to increase economic pressure on Iran, with a focus on severing its global economic ties.

The US Treasury Department announced that it is expanding sanctions against Iran to include the cryptocurrency sector, along with gold, technology, aviation, and maritime sectors, as part of 'Operation Economic Exclusion.'

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the US has launched this operation to block all options supporting Iran, adding, 'Countries that maintain any form of economic ties with the Iranian regime will face strong U.S. sanctions.'

The new sanctions list includes over 60 individuals, entities, and vessels worldwide.
