US SEC Unveils New Rules to Attract Cryptocurrency Firms Back Home
SEC Chair Paul Atkins has unveiled new rules aimed at bringing cryptocurrency firms back to the US market. According to Atkins, the new fundraising regulations will attract crypto innovators and capital back to American markets.
The Regulation Crypto Assets proposal is designed to increase confidence among innovators while raising capital in the United States. The chairman of the SEC stressed that the current regulatory framework has undermined capital formation in the entire crypto industry by applying outdated securities laws developed before the emergence of digital assets.
Atkins introduced two exemptions from the SEC's proposal to decrease regulatory obstacles for crypto companies. He also emphasized the importance of clear guidelines for digital assets, which are currently lacking.
The CLARITY Act remains integral to the framework, as it proposes that crypto will be regulated by both the SEC and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Atkins believes that legislation can help formulate lasting rules more than agency actions can do.
