US Seizes $560,000 in Crypto Linked to Hamas Funding Channels
The US Justice Department has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency donations allegedly intended for Hamas. The funds were tied to the Al Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the organization.
According to the Justice Department, a group chat claiming an association with Hamas operated on an encrypted communications platform. Participants were directed from that chat to a fundraising website, where prospective donors received a changing series of cryptocurrency addresses. The rotation of these addresses was designed to disperse incoming payments and make tracking more difficult.
Investigators used information obtained from multiple human sources to identify the relevant infrastructure and addresses, follow the digital assets, and support applications for judicial authorization. Three unsealed warrants corresponded to actions on March 25, June 25, and October 10, 2025, capturing approximately $560,000 intended to support the military wing.
