US Seizes $560K in Crypto Linked to Hamas Fundraising Campaigns
The US Justice Department and blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis revealed that between March 2025 and August 2026, authorities seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency linked to Hamas fundraising campaigns.
The investigation began with a simple trail of cryptocurrency sent to a Hamas-linked donation address, but grew into a wider probe spanning wallets, exchanges, blockchain bridges, financial intermediaries, and online infrastructure used for solicitations.
Investigators followed the funds from one wallet to a larger network, identifying recurring 'gas wallets' used to pay transaction fees for numerous addresses linked to Hamas' military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades.
The case demonstrates how blockchain investigations can evolve over time, with earlier evidence serving as a starting point for subsequent probes. Even when wallet addresses and techniques changed, the historical record remained available, allowing investigators to connect new transactions and build a larger picture of the network.
