US Seizes $560K in Crypto Meant for Hamas as Blockchain Threats Persist

The US Department of Justice has seized over $560,000 in cryptocurrency intended for Hamas, disrupting its fundraising and recruitment efforts. The funds were allegedly meant to support the Al Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing.

Investigations traced the funds through three warrants issued in 2025, federal prosecutors said. The FBI also seized internet domains and servers connected to the group's main website, allowing them to intercept cryptocurrency donations intended for Hamas.

Separately, attackers compromised at least 31 organizations in a ClickFix campaign that used the Polygon blockchain to make malicious activity harder to stop. The campaign inserted harmful code into business websites, displaying a fake human verification prompt and starting malware installation on infected computers.
