US Senate Faces Crunch Time on CLARITY Act Cryptocurrency Regulations

Share

The US Senate has just over a week to consider and pass the CLARITY Act, which aims to establish comprehensive rules for the cryptocurrency market.

The bill's first full version was released by Republicans on July 22, 2026, and its fate now hinges on the voting results before Congress's August recess.

Ethical amendments have become a key obstacle to advancing the bill, particularly restrictions for public officials that prohibit them from issuing or promoting digital assets while in office.

The Republican version of the CLARITY Act already contains these provisions, but Democrats continue to insist on revising and strengthening them.
