US Senate to Reconsider CLARITY Act on September 15 Amid Ongoing Regulatory Uncertainty
The CLARITY Act is back on track for consideration by the US Senate after Senator Jim Risch (R-ID) announced that the process will start on September 15. The bill aims to establish a federal framework for digital asset markets and provide consumer protection.
Risch framed the September effort around consumer protection and U.S. economic competitiveness, stating that continued delays could expose Americans to fraud while shifting investment and financial activity overseas.
The legislation has been in limbo due to legislative gridlock, but Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan predicts it will remain active even if immediate passage slips away.
Hougan described the bill's prolonged legislative limbo as a 'walking dead' state, where nothing can kill it but it will continue to lurch along.
