US Senate to Vote on CLARITY Act Before August Recess
US Senate to Vote on Crypto Bill This Week
Senator Tim Scott, chair of the Senate Banking Committee, has announced that the chamber will vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act before its August recess. The vote is expected to take place within the next few days.
According to Scott, the Senate 'should have the first vote' on the CLARITY Act, giving lawmakers a narrow window of time to act. However, concerns remain among Democrats regarding US President Donald Trump's crypto investments and the need for licensing and restrictions on stablecoins.
The bill would require 60 votes to pass in the Senate and advance in Congress. Senator Cynthia Lummis had previously urged the Senate to take up a vote on CLARITY before recess, citing the need for clarity on digital assets.
