US Senate to Vote on Clarity Act Cryptocurrency Legislation
The US Senate is set to vote on Tuesday on whether to advance the Clarity Act, a comprehensive cryptocurrency legislation that would create a regulatory framework for digital assets. The bill has been broadly supported by the crypto industry, which has spent hundreds of millions of dollars campaigning for its passage.
The vote is seen as a key test, and if it fails, little time remains on the calendar for Senate Republicans to try to revive the bill. Analysts say that while passage would be positive for the crypto ecosystem, investors have mostly priced in the possibility that the bill will not be passed into law.
Three major crypto industry trade groups, the Blockchain Association, the Crypto Council for Innovation, and the Digital Chamber, issued a joint statement urging lawmakers to advance the bill. They argue that a yes vote is critical to keep the process moving and ensure Senators have opportunities to debate and move the legislation forward.
