US Slams Iran-Linked Crypto Exchange for $6.3B Laundering Scheme
A US Treasury report has revealed that Iran-linked crypto exchange Shelbit handled over $6.3 billion in transactions between May 2024 and March 2026.
The Department of the Treasury penalized Shelbit founder Siavash Kayvanpour and several companies for helping to launder billions of dollars for the Iranian regime and supporting the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
TRM Labs reported that Shelbit handled more than $6.3 billion in transactions between May 2024 and March 2026.
The Treasury Department stated that Shelbit helped facilitate the transfer of billions of dollars to support the Iranian regime's activities, including those of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
