US Slams Shut Two Iranian Crypto Exchanges Amid Escalating Economic Pressure

The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on two Iranian cryptocurrency exchanges as part of its efforts to increase economic pressure on Iran. The entities, which have sprawling corporate networks and an extensive online gambling enterprise, helped launder billions of dollars for the Iranian regime and support the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The Trump administration has been ramping up economic pressure on Iran since the ceasefire that had halted fighting unraveled last month. In a statement, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said: 'We will continue to increase the economic pressure.'
