US Spot Bitcoin ETF Closes Due to Low Assets
The Hashdex Bitcoin Futures ETF has become the first U.S.-listed spot Bitcoin ETF to shut down. However, this closure is not a negative sign for Bitcoin itself.
Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are subject to market forces and can be closed if they fail to attract assets. The Hashdex fund had just $14.7 million in assets under management, which is relatively small compared to other spot crypto ETFs.
Closing an ETF does not necessarily mean the underlying asset is dying or poised for a big drop. Bitcoin determines the fate of the ETFs holding it, not the other way around.
