The US State Department has launched a program to promote digital freedom and expression, partnering with the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) as one of its founding partners.

The BPI will participate in the Freedom Tech Excellence Program (FTEP), which brings together private sector talent to advance diplomatic efforts on key issues such as online freedom of expression, privacy-enhancing technologies, and countering digital surveillance.

FTEP allows employees from partner organizations to work alongside state department experts to defend digital freedoms around the world. This partnership marks a significant development in the US government's recognition of the importance of digital rights.
