US Targets $61M in Cryptocurrency Assets Linked to Iran's Military

Share

The US Attorney's Office has filed a civil lawsuit to seize $61 million in cryptocurrency assets linked to Iran. The funds were allegedly used for military purposes and to support the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

According to the lawsuit, a sophisticated network of cryptocurrency operators based in China laundered over $1.5 billion in proceeds from the illicit sale of Iranian oil. Two major Chinese companies, Blessed Trust and Hexa Whale, were involved in this operation.

The US Attorney's Office confirmed that a significant portion of these laundered funds was routed to accounts linked to Iran's IRGC and a domestic cryptocurrency exchange within Iran.
