US Traders Get Access to Regulated Crypto Options Trading with Two Main Routes
Crypto options trading is available in the US market, but it's narrower compared to the global market. The major platforms like Deribit, Bybit, OKX, and Binance block US residents from their crypto options products. However, there are two main routes for US traders: Crypto.com's CFTC-regulated Strike and UpDown options or CME's Bitcoin/Ether options through a futures broker.
Crypto.com offers fully collateralized options with defined outcomes, including Strike Options that give traders a Yes/No view on whether an asset will exceed a set strike at expiry. CME offers regulated BTC and ETH options, with standard contract sizes of 5-BTC and 50-ETH respectively. Micro contract sizes are also available for both Bitcoin and Ether.
The ranking criteria included published documentation, fee schedules, product specifications, and verified licensing information against regulator registers. The top-rated exchanges were CME Group Options, Crypto.com Strike & UpDown Options, and Deribit Options. Other notable exchanges include Binance Options, OKX Options, Bybit Options, Coincall Options, Delta Exchange Options, and Derive.xyz.
