US-UK Crack Down on Global Crypto Scam Operations
The US and UK have launched an unprecedented joint effort to dismantle global scam operations exploiting cryptocurrency and digital investment platforms.
The partnership, announced on Thursday, establishes a memorandum of understanding between the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, England and Wales’ Crown Prosecution Service, and the National Crime Agency of the United Kingdom.
According to the Justice Department, this agreement is an 'unprecedented international law enforcement collaboration' that will enable participating agencies to share intelligence on transnational crime syndicates and coordinate jurisdictional decisions for prosecution.
The partnership aims to target cryptocurrency investment scams that have generated $8.65 billion in reported losses during 2025, representing an 89% escalation from the $4.57 billion documented in 2023.
