US Venture Dollars Flood into AI Companies in Q2 2026
The latest data from PitchBook reveals that in Q2 2026, an astonishing 87.5% of all US venture dollars flowed into AI-related companies. This concentration is the most skewed AI-versus-non-AI split recorded by PitchBook to date.
The remaining 12.5% was divided among every other technology sector. The data reflects a structural shift in how US institutional capital allocates to private tech companies, with investors preferring to extend existing bets in AI rather than rotating into new sectors.
In August 2026, four separate AI companies raised significant amounts of money: Lovable, the Swedish vibe-coding startup, raised $400 million at a $13.3 billion valuation; River AI, an open-weight infrastructure company, raised $1.1 billion across seed and Series A tranches; CodeRabbit, an AI code review platform, closed a $143 million round at a $1.5 billion valuation; and Cognition AI is in early discussions for a new round that could push its valuation past $40 billion.
The concentration of venture capital in AI has significant implications for crypto-native AI projects, with decentralized compute and AI agent infrastructure startups competing for investor attention in a market dominated by centralized AI labs. Decentralized AI projects must demonstrate differentiated capabilities to attract revenue and compete with centralized alternatives at scale.
