$USAT Grows at Lightning Pace as Parent Token Contracts
Tether's American dollar token, $USAT, has experienced explosive growth since its launch in January. In just one month, it grew from $22 million to $140.8 million, a staggering increase of 540%. This rapid expansion is the fastest growth rate among regulated dollar tokens this year.
At first glance, this seems like a remarkable achievement for $USAT, which was launched with an initial supply of just $10 million. However, when compared to its parent token, $USDT, which has around $184 billion in circulation, $USAT is still a relatively small player at 0.08%.
The growth of $USAT can be attributed to institutional treasury operations and settlement flows, according to the US entity's chief executive. But what's more interesting is the corporate structure behind this token.
Tether built a specific kind of corporate structure in January, which appears when a large business decides it may need to become a different business. This structure involves $USAT being issued through a federally chartered bank and run by a separate US entity with its own chief executive.
