USD1 Stablecoin Gets Conditional Approval for Federally Supervised Bank
World Liberty Financial has secured conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to organize a national trust bank for its USD1 stablecoin.
The proposed bank, World Liberty Trust Company, will manage USD1 issuance, reserve management, and institutional digital asset custody under federal supervision.
USD1 has surpassed $4 billion in circulation since its launch, according to the company. The stablecoin is listed on major exchanges such as Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken, and also operates on decentralized exchanges like Uniswap and PancakeSwap.
The OCC approval remains conditional, and World Liberty Trust Company must satisfy chartering requirements before opening. Once operational, the bank will maintain institutional controls and regular regulatory oversight, with independent directors bringing accounting, regulatory, and financial services experience to the board.
