USD1 Stablecoin Surpasses $50 Billion in Trading Volume on Binance
The dollar-pegged stablecoin USD1 has reached a significant milestone on Binance, surpassing $50 billion in cumulative trading volume just over a year after its launch. According to on-chain analyst Darkfost, this growth reflects growing adoption of the token, although the figures should be interpreted carefully.
The analysis notes that a $2 billion institutional settlement transaction tied to Binance's investment in USD1 accounted for a significant share of new issuance, potentially distorting the raw numbers. However, despite this caveat, weekly trading volume for USD1 on Binance has remained steady between $750 million and over $2 billion, indicating genuine usage beyond the one-off transaction.
This trend points to meaningful growth for USD1, particularly in a market dominated by established players like Tether (USDT) and Circle (USDC). The stablecoin's liquidity on Binance affects transaction costs and execution speed, making it a practical consideration for traders and investors.
