USDC Circulation Surges to 73.7 Billion Amid Rising Demand
Circle's USDC stablecoin continues to attract demand from investors and users alike. The company reported a net increase of 1 billion tokens in circulation for the latest reporting period, bringing total circulation to 73.7 billion. This growth reflects the increasing adoption of dollar-pegged digital assets in decentralized finance (DeFi) and cross-border payments.
The net issuance of USDC is backed by solid reserves of approximately $74 billion, held in cash and short-term U.S. Treasuries. Circle publishes monthly attestations to verify that reserves match the circulating supply, a key trust factor for institutional users.
The growth in USDC circulation indicates robust demand despite regulatory scrutiny in various jurisdictions. As rules become clearer, stablecoin issuers that prioritize transparency and regulatory alignment may gain a competitive edge.
