Circle's stablecoin USDC has set a new milestone in decentralized exchange (DEX) trading volume, reaching $2.8 billion on August 22, according to recent data.

This marks the highest daily DEX trading volume for USDC in over a month and represents a significant surge in DeFi activity, with total spot DEX volume hitting $10.9 billion, a threshold not seen since early June.

The majority of this volume is concentrated in liquidity provision, flash loans, and automated trading strategies, rather than retail traders swapping tokens.

Base, Coinbase's Layer 2 network, has emerged as a primary venue for high-concentration USDC activity, with two protocols, Aerodrome and Morpho, driving significant transaction throughput.
