USDC Lands Main Sponsorship Deal with Chelsea FC
Circle's USDC stablecoin has made history by becoming the first crypto financial services company to secure the main placement on a Premier League jersey. The partnership between Circle and Chelsea FC will see the USDC logo on the front of the men's, women's, and academy teams' jerseys starting from the 2026/27 season.
The unveiling of the new jerseys will take place during Chelsea's first home match against Brighton at Stamford Bridge on August 30. This marks a significant milestone for Circle, which has been developing a global payments network and preparing to launch its blockchain, Arc, in September.
According to Jeremy Allaire, co-founder and CEO of Circle, the partnership is a key step towards achieving their goal of making money flow seamlessly across borders. The deal also highlights the growing trend of stablecoins being used for daily card payments, with USDC's circulation reaching $73.3 billion at the end of the second quarter.
The removal of betting sites from the front of jerseys has made way for financial actors like Circle to take center stage in the Premier League. The partnership is seen as a major coup for Circle, which will now have a significant presence on one of the world's most-watched sports stages.
