USDT Stablecoin Gains Traction in Developing Economies

Tether's USDT adoption is growing in several developing economies, according to Paolo Ardoino, the company's CEO. In a recent statement, he highlighted that several countries rely heavily on the stablecoin for domestic and foreign trade.

Ardoino mentioned Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, and Turkey as markets where people use USDT due to inflation, currency depreciation, limited access to dollars, and restrictions within conventional financial systems.

He noted that these economies increasingly rely on $USDT for dollar-denominated savings. Currency instability supports the adoption of $USDT, which is designed to track the U.S. dollar without requiring a U.S. bank account.

The company reports that over 570 million people were served by its products as of March 2026, with a USDT supply reaching a record $188 billion during the same year.
