USDT Supply Plunges $4 Billion Amid Crypto Market Weakness
USDT's supply has dropped by $4 billion in recent weeks, indicating that investors may be reducing their exposure to the crypto market. According to CryptoQuant, the stablecoin's 60-day supply change fell to minus $4 billion, while its market capitalization declined to around $183 billion.
The decline in USDT supply is significant and has sparked questions about whether investors are pulling money from crypto markets. Green Dot founder Stacy Muur pointed out this trend after noticing the sharp drop in USDT's supply. 'Wtf is happening to the USDT supply?' Muur wrote on social media.
One possible reason for the decline in USDT supply is that investors are seeking returns elsewhere, such as through products like USDC, Morpho, and Aave. This could be contributing to a shift away from stablecoins. Moreover, USDC's own supply has also declined, suggesting that this trend may not be limited to just USDT.
On the other hand, Tron remains a bright spot in the stablecoin market, with its stablecoin supply growing by billions of dollars despite the broader weakness. Token Terminal reported that Tron added $10.8 billion to its stablecoin market capitalization this year, while HyperEVM gained $5.2 billion and X Layer added $1.7 billion.
