Uzbekistan Tests Sovereign-Bond-Backed Stablecoin for Payments

Uzbekistan has launched a pilot program to test its sovereign-bond-backed stablecoin, HUMO. The token is pegged to the Uzbek soum and backed by government securities.

The pilot aims to connect banking, payment-processing, and blockchain infrastructure, allowing HUMO transactions to interact with existing financial rails.

Regulators will assess various aspects of the system, including reserve adequacy, cybersecurity, anti-money-laundering compliance, and monetary-policy risks.
