Vance Reveals Trump's Economic Strategy: Crypto Not Direct Solution to US Debt
JD Vance, Vice President of the United States, has shed light on the Trump administration's economic strategy to tackle the country's ballooning debt. With national debt now exceeding $40 trillion, Vance emphasized the importance of traditional economic growth models and foreign investment in reducing the deficit.
Vance noted that Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has a 'discreet plan' supported by President Donald Trump to make the US economy grow faster than its debt. He highlighted the potential influx of nearly $19 trillion in foreign investment over the next decade, which could expand the tax base and support the Treasury market.
Regarding cryptocurrency, Vance seemed hesitant to back Bitcoin or XRP as a direct solution to reducing the national debt. However, he did mention that Trump's interest in creating a US sovereign wealth fund might include Bitcoin as part of its asset mix, focusing more broadly on domestic equities, energy, and other strategic assets.
The administration's immediate focus appears to be regulation, with Vance backing the CLARITY Act as 'very important' for the US technology sector. The bill aims to establish clearer rules for digital assets and blockchain projects, potentially giving companies more certainty to build in the US.
