VanEck Crypto ETFs Break into US Workplace Retirement Plans
The financial services company VanEck has partnered with Basic Capital to bring its crypto-focused exchange-traded funds (ETFs) into workplace retirement plans in the United States.
This marks one of the first direct integrations of crypto-focused ETFs into 401(k) plans, which are employer-sponsored defined contribution plans that hold approximately $13.9 trillion in assets as of September, with $10 trillion of that in 401(k) accounts.
The partnership follows a policy shift at the federal level, where President Donald Trump signed an executive order in August directing agencies to explore rule changes expanding access to alternative assets in retirement accounts.
VanEck's digital asset lineup includes the VanEck Bitcoin Trust (HODL) and the VanEck Ethereum Trust (ETHV), as well as the VanEck Digital Transformation ETF (DAPP), which invests in companies that operate within the digital asset ecosystem.
