VanEck Sees $1M Bitcoin in 5 Years, Citing Demographic Shifts
Matthew Sigel, Head of Digital Assets Research at VanEck, believes Bitcoin could reach $1 million per coin within five years. This projection is not seen as an outlier by his firm but rather their base-case scenario.
Sigel pointed to demographic shifts and the increasing allocations from younger investors as key drivers behind this potential growth. He also cited the first central bank purchase of Bitcoin for reserves as evidence that adoption has moved beyond retail speculation.
When asked about the trajectory, Sigel compared Bitcoin's growth to the video game industry, noting that asset classes once seen as niche tend to broaden across age groups.
Sigel acknowledged that the road ahead will be challenging and cited the correlation between Bitcoin and the Nasdaq at a five-year high. However, he also stated that the lack of froth in derivatives markets supports a constructive outlook.
