Vanguard Pours Billions into Bitcoin-Correlated Stock
Vanguard Group has increased its holdings in Strategy by $50 million to nearly $1 billion. This brings Vanguard's total position to roughly 10.5 million shares, worth $993.5 million.
This move is significant because Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, remains the single largest corporate holder of Bitcoin on the planet. The company has spent years converting its balance sheet into what is effectively a leveraged Bitcoin vehicle, accumulating hundreds of thousands of coins in the process.
Vanguard's passive investment strategy means that it buys and sells stocks based on their weightings in various indexes. As a result, Vanguard now owns nearly $1 billion worth of one of the world's largest asset managers' capital tied to Bitcoin's price trajectory through a single stock.
