VeChain Interstellar Upgrade Scheduled for September 16, 2026

The VeChain network is set to undergo an upgrade called Interstellar on September 16, 2026. This hardfork will bring the VeChainThor virtual machine up to Ethereum's level by implementing several improvement proposals from the Cancun, Prague, and Osaka upgrades.

The activation of Interstellar is not tied to a specific time but rather a block height, which is currently expected to occur around block 25,902,540. This means that nodes on the network will need to be updated before this point in order to participate in the upgrade.

VeChain holders who store their tokens on an exchange will experience a brief period where they are unable to deposit or withdraw VET, but those holding their own node software do not need to take any action. The VeChain team has announced that there is no token migration, swap, or change to the VET supply or staking rules.

The update to Thor v2.5.0 is required for nodes to support Interstellar, and 79% of visible nodes are currently running this version. However, 21% of nodes are still on older software versions, which may cause issues after the fork.
