VeChain Surges 77% Ahead of Interstellar Hard Fork and EVM Upgrade
VeChain (VET) has surged 77% in value over the past month, largely due to its upcoming Interstellar hard fork and EVM upgrade going live this week. This major development is part of VeChain's Renaissance roadmap and will see the network's execution-layer standards aligned with those introduced by Ethereum. The upgrade, known as VIP-255, has been approved through a stakeholder vote on the VeVote governance platform.
The Interstellar hard fork is scheduled to activate at block height 25,902,540, expected around 11:15 UTC on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. This development will bring several key improvements to the network, including transient storage and native BLS12-381 cryptography. Crucially, it will also introduce passkey-style secp256r1 authentication and tighter gas and block-size limits.
The VeChain team has been actively defending its architecture against Ethereum's roadmap, with a recent technical thread comparing their transaction model to EIP-8141, a proposed Ethereum upgrade focused on transaction batching, gas abstraction, and programmable account behavior. This move suggests that VeChain is confident in its own roadmap and is making a strong case for its architecture.
The surge in VET's value has also been driven by the addition of a new validator to the network. Cointelegraph's validator arm, CTDG, recently went live with two validators on VeChainThor, expanding the pool of validators and increasing the network's security.
