Venezuela Sees Crypto Adoption Surge Amid Bolivar Collapse
Venezuela's economy continues to struggle under hyperinflation, with the bolivar losing over 70% of its value since October.
The country has seen a surge in crypto adoption, ranking 13th globally for usage according to Chainalysis. This is a 110% increase from last year, driven by merchants accepting digital assets like Binance and Airtm.
Businesses are using cryptocurrencies to shield against the economic crisis, with many paying employees in stablecoins such as USDT.
Crypto remittances have become crucial for Venezuelan families, accounting for 9% of the $5.4 billion sent home in 2023, totaling approximately $461 million.
