Verition Fund Doubles Down on Bitcoin ETF Holdings
Verition Fund Management, a $15 billion Connecticut-based hedge fund, has significantly increased its holdings in Bitcoin ETFs. The firm acquired an additional 19% of shares in Bitcoin's iShares Trust (IBIT), bringing its total position to 3.07 million shares valued at approximately $110M.
The company's Q1 filing showed it held around 238,911 IBIT shares worth about $9.2M. However, the gap between this figure and the current 3.07 million shares suggests that Verition either made a dramatic U-turn in its investment strategy after Q1 or is investing in a different Bitcoin ETF product.
Bitcoin ETFs have been instrumental in simplifying how traditional finance interacts with cryptocurrency. They provide an easier way for institutions to gain exposure to Bitcoin without navigating custody solutions and regulatory complexities.
The next 13F filing deadline will reveal whether Verition's reported increase is accurate and which specific Bitcoin ETF product the fund is accumulating.
