Vertex Abandons Legacy Deployments for New OP Stack-Based Platform
Vertex Protocol is undergoing significant changes as it transitions to a new platform. The existing EVM deployments, including Arbitrum, Mantle, Sei, Base, and Sonic, are being deprecated in favor of Ink, an Ethereum layer 2 incubated by Kraken on the OP Stack. This rebuild aims to improve the exchange's infrastructure without altering its direction or product offerings.
The VRTX token is also being phased out as part of this transition. Although the team assures that the product itself will survive, users must actively follow the migration plan due to the impermanence of the existing deployments and token. Vertex was praised for its innovative cross-margin model, which allowed spot and perpetual positions to share collateral, and for its competitive fees of approximately 0.02% maker and 0.05% taker.
Until the transition is complete and proven in operation, Vertex is not a viable option for new users due to the absence of EU authorization and the uncertainty surrounding the platform's future. The team's focus on rebuilding rather than revolutionizing suggests that the core concept remains unchanged.
