The Verus Ethereum Bridge suffered a security breach on July 23, 2026, resulting in the loss of $7.54 million.

An attacker exploited the same import-path flaw that was used in a May hack, which drained $11.5 million from the same contract.

The Verus team had redeposited funds recovered from the first attack into the bridge just two weeks earlier.

Security researchers confirmed that the transaction and attacker wallet differed from the May incident, but the underlying contract and bug class were identical.
