Verus-Ethereum Bridge Hacked Again for $7.54M
A second hacking incident has occurred on the Verus-Ethereum bridge in just two months. According to Blockaid, the attacker exploited the same vulnerability used in the May breach to steal $7.54 million worth of cryptocurrency.
The hacker withdrew ETH, tBTC, USDC, USDT, EURC, MKR and scrvUSD from bridge reserves and then converted the stolen assets into ETH.
CertiK also detected the hack and estimated losses at about $7.53 million. The attacker deposited the funds into Tornado Cash after swapping the stolen assets into 3,916.1 ETH.
