Verus Ethereum Bridge Hit Again: $7.54M Stolen in Repeated Security Breach

The Verus Ethereum Bridge has suffered its second major security breach in just over two months, with attackers stealing approximately $7.54 million in crypto assets on July 23.

According to Blockaid, a blockchain security firm, the attacker abused the bridge's submitImports function to trigger Ethereum-side payouts without corresponding assets being locked on the Verus blockchain, allowing funds to be withdrawn from the bridge's reserves.

The same vulnerability that was exploited in May, when $11.58 million was stolen, has been targeted by a new attacker wallet, raising concerns about whether the security issue had been fully addressed.
