Vietnam's Banking Reform Debates Crypto Assets and Credit Rules
National Assembly deputies in Vietnam debated flexible credit rules and crypto assets during banking reform discussions.
The proposed amendments to the Law on the State Bank of Vietnam, specifically the clause enabling the central bank to apply alternative safety metrics, were deemed ambiguous by several lawmakers.
Deputy Do Duc Hien recommended clarifying this mechanism directly within the bill or inserting a provision mandating explicit criteria and conditions for adopting alternative safety metrics.
Regarding crypto assets, Deputy Nguyen Thanh Tung, an HCMC representative and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Vietcombank, emphasized the need for heavier artificial intelligence investments to monitor them and combat cross-border money laundering.
