Vietnam's Crypto Exchange Pilot Takes Shape Amid Stricter Regulations
Despite not issuing its first crypto exchange license, Vietnam has made progress in its five-year digital asset market pilot. Five companies have passed an initial assessment under the country's pilot program.
To pass this stage, applicants must meet strict requirements, including having at least $383 million in charter capital and Level 4 information-system security certification.
Decree No. 284/2026/ND-CP takes effect on September 1 and establishes penalties for crypto-market violations during the pilot program.
However, domestic traders will not face immediate fines for using offshore platforms, as a six-month transition period applies first.
