Vietnam's Crypto Regulations Take Effect Without Immediate Impact
Vietnam's new crypto regulations are set to take effect on September 1st, introducing penalties for market violations. However, this does not mean that investors will immediately be forced onto licensed platforms.
No platform has yet received a license under the Ministry of Finance's pilot framework, and investors won't have to move to regulated exchanges until six months after the first license is issued.
The new penalties for unauthorized crypto services and other violations range from VND 180 million to VND 200 million, but individual investors will not be affected immediately. They will only need to conduct covered transactions through licensed providers once the Ministry of Finance issues the first license.
