Villemain's Spritehood Sale Raises $12.8M on Robinhood Chain
The Pudgy Penguins NFT project has been making headlines in recent weeks. One of its co-founders, Cole Villemain, was ousted from his position by a community vote back in January 2022 amid allegations of misusing the project's funds.
Fast forward to August 11th, when Villemain made waves again by launching a new NFT series called Spritehood on the Robinhood Chain. The series consisted of 44,000 unique tokens and was priced around $684.28 ETH (approximately $1,864.74 USD) each.
According to data from analyst 0xlaplaced, the sale raised approximately $12.8 million in revenue, significantly higher than the estimated $7.5 million at the time of sale. The tokens were sold out within an hour, with 37,430 units selling for $17 each and 5,526 units going for $117.
It's worth noting that before the paid sale began, Villemain's team had distributed 1,488 tokens to buyers via free transactions at zero price. The Spritehood contract itself is listed as 'unverified' on the Robinhood Chain's Blockscout browser, with buyers unable to review the source code for the token's pricing and distribution mechanism.
