Viral $6,000 XRP Price Target Debated Amid Institutional Buying
A viral price model predicting XRP could reach $6,000 has sparked debate in crypto markets.
Ripple recently finished its monthly token release on September 1, unlocking 1 billion XRP before moving 700 million back into new escrow contracts, valued at near $952 million. However, not all of the unlocked tokens were re-locked, as approximately 300 million XRP remains outside these accounts.
The viral model assumes XRP handles $30 trillion in yearly transfers with only 10 billion tokens available, calculating a hypothetical $6,000 per token price using basic money rules. However, traditional market capitalization math shows that a $6,000 price would require a total value of $376 trillion based on current supply.
In contrast to the unrealistic viral claim, XRP is trading near $1.34, with a real market value of around $84 billion. Despite short-term price pullbacks from recent peaks, institutional buyers continue to attract spot XRP ETFs, with U.S. funds gathering $170 million over 11 consecutive trading days.
