Visa Links Stablecoins to Blockchain Loans in Payment Expansion
Visa is expanding its stablecoin business by combining VisaNet settlement data with blockchain-based lending infrastructure. This move allows for broader working-capital funding channels for stablecoin-linked card programs.
The company has partnered with Credit Coop, a blockchain lending protocol, to build a revolving credit line denominated in stablecoins. This line supplies funds backed by card receivables and uses smart contracts to automate loan execution and repayment.
Since 2023, this partnership has supported over $2.5 billion of settlement volume with financing and handled more than 3,000 borrowings and over 9,000 repayments. Notably, Visa reports no defaults have occurred at participating facilities so far.
