Visa has partnered with Nium to test stablecoin-based settlement mechanisms as part of Singapore's BLOOM initiative. The project, led by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), aims to explore the use of regulated digital currencies for continuous payment settlement operations.

The trial will focus on using stablecoins pegged to USD and euros, eliminating traditional banking schedules' restrictions. Visa currently operates stablecoin settlement infrastructure across nine blockchain platforms, with an annualized transaction flow approaching $7 billion.

Adeline Kim, Visa's group country manager for Regional Southeast Asia, emphasized the importance of interoperability in payment evolution: 'The future of payments will be shaped by how different forms of money and payment networks work together for different use cases.'
