Visa Puts Its Stamp on Stablecoin Ecosystem with OpenUSD and Tokenized Deposits
Visa has unveiled its roadmap for stablecoins and deposits, highlighting its participation in OpenUSD and the development of tokenized deposits. The company's third-quarter results presentation emphasized how blockchain technology is redefining cross-border payments.
The multinational reported revenues of $11.6 billion, a 14% increase compared to the same period last year. This strong growth has been driven primarily by a 13% increase in the volume of cross-border payments and a 10% increase in the total number of transactions processed globally.
Visa is actively building upon every stratum of the stablecoin architecture, including the underlying blockchain network, asset issuance, digital wallet solutions, orchestration infrastructure, and decentralized applications for end users. The company's interest in this technology is no coincidence, as traditional payment systems often face operational friction, settlement delays, and high costs when it comes to moving money between different jurisdictions.
