Vitalik Buterin: Bitcoin's Core Cryptography Robust Against AI and Quantum Threats
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin says that Bitcoin's core cryptography is robust and can withstand emerging threats from AI and quantum computing. He believes that the proof-of-work system and cryptographic defenses in place are extremely secure, making it very unlikely for an attacker to successfully breach Bitcoin's core.
In his assessment, Buterin notes that technical upgrades would be sufficient to address network-layer threats, rather than relying on social consensus. He also acknowledges that AI brings new cybersecurity challenges but offers tools to strengthen blockchain security.
The Ethereum co-founder further emphasizes that current quantum computers are not powerful enough to compromise Bitcoin's cryptography, and the crypto community is actively researching post-quantum solutions.
