Vitalik Buterin: Blockchain Anti-Collusion Rules May Apply to AI Safety

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has suggested that anti-collusion mechanisms he previously proposed for blockchain governance could be more relevant to AI safety than cryptocurrency itself.

In a recent X post, Buterin highlighted the similarities between crypto governance and multi-agent AI systems. He noted that in both cases, there is a risk of agents colluding to achieve an outcome that is not beneficial to all parties involved.

Buterin pointed out that his previous work on harmful coordination on a blockchain could offer a blueprint for managing increasingly autonomous AI agents.
