Vitalik Buterin Prioritizes Privacy and Quantum Security for Ethereum

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin analyzed the differences between the network's 2023 roadmap and its updated Strawmap, highlighting significant priority changes over a three-year period.

One notable shift is the emergence of privacy protection as a fundamental protocol requirement. To address this concern, developers are exploring new mechanisms such as privacy pools and wormholes.

The network's focus on quantum resistance has also increased, with Buterin emphasizing the need for dedicated protocol-level solutions to mitigate potential threats from powerful quantum computers. Currently, Ethereum relies on cryptographic algorithms that could be compromised by future quantum attacks.

Buterin mentioned that native rollup integration is now being considered due to advancements in zero-knowledge (ZK) technology, which would integrate portions of the verification logic directly into the core protocol.
