Vitalik Buterin Pushes One-Click Ethereum Staking with Simplified Distributed Validator Tech
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has announced plans to simplify Ethereum staking through the use of distributed validator technology, or DVT. This move comes as the Ethereum Foundation stakes 72,000 ETH using a simplified version of DVT called DVT-lite.
DVT-lite allows multiple computers to share a single key, with each machine automatically taking over if another goes offline. The setup process is straightforward, requiring users to select which computers will run their nodes and create a configuration file with the shared key.
Buterin's goal is to make distributed staking 'maximally easy and one-click' for institutions, pushing back against the idea that running staking infrastructure requires professional expertise. He plans to use DVT-lite personally and hopes more institutions will follow suit.
The demand for Ethereum staking remains strong, with 3.2 million ETH in the validator entry queue and a 55-day wait, compared to just 29,000 ETH in the exit queue with a 12-hour wait. A total of 37.5 million ETH, representing 31% of total supply, is currently staked on the network.
